Data deletion
You can delete your Desklight account, your workspace, and any data Desklight received from connected platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, YouTube, and storage providers like Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, and Figma) at any time. Deletion is self-serve from inside the app.
Self-serve deletion
Open Settings → Danger zone
In the sidebar, click Settings, then under the Advanced group click Danger zone.
Click "Delete account"
Confirm by typing your workspace name. Your account is then scheduled for permanent deletion. We send a confirmation email immediately.
Grace period
For 30 days after you click Delete, your data is preserved but the workspace is locked. If you change your mind — or if a compromised account triggered the deletion — you can sign back in within the 30-day window and click Restore account to bring everything back exactly as it was.
After the 30-day window elapses, your data is permanently deleted from our database. Backup copies are overwritten within an additional 30 days, after which the data is irrecoverable.
What gets deleted
When the 30-day window closes:
- Your workspace, brands, and brand profiles
- All calendar entries, scheduled posts, and content drafts
- All generated assets (images and video) and the source files behind them
- Knowledge base entries, uploaded brand guides, and reference files
- Team members associated with the workspace and their email preferences
- Activity logs, chat history, and conversation memory
- OAuth tokens issued to Desklight by connected platforms — including Facebook Pages, Instagram media access, LinkedIn organization access, X access, TikTok access, YouTube access, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, and Figma. Revoking these tokens means Desklight can no longer read from or write to those accounts on your behalf.
- Any data Desklight received from those platforms — for example, Facebook Page IDs, Instagram media IDs, LinkedIn organization URNs, OAuth refresh tokens, and the connection metadata stored against your workspace.
Stripe billing records (customer ID, subscription ID, paid invoices) are retained for the period required by tax and accounting regulations — typically up to 7 years. We do not store full card numbers; that data lives only with Stripe.
Revoking platform access without deleting Desklight
If you only want to disconnect a single platform — for example, revoke Facebook access while keeping your Desklight workspace — sign in, go to Connectors, find the connector card, click the ... menu, and select Disconnect. We delete the OAuth token immediately. You can also revoke access from inside the connected platform's own settings:
- Facebook / Instagram: Settings → Business Integrations → Desklight → Remove
- LinkedIn: Settings → Data privacy → Permitted services → Desklight → Remove
- X: Settings → Security and account access → Apps and sessions → Connected apps → Desklight → Revoke access
- TikTok: Settings → Manage account → Apps → Desklight → Remove
- YouTube / Google Drive: myaccount.google.com → Security → Third-party apps with account access → Desklight → Remove access
If you can't sign in
If you've lost access to your account email or can't reach the in-app deletion flow for any reason, email privacy@desklight.ai from the email address on the account. Include the workspace name if you remember it. We'll verify the request and process the deletion manually within 30 days, in line with the same timeline as the in-app flow.
