Refund Policy
We want you to like Desklight. If we miss the mark, we'd rather refund you than keep your money. Here's how it works.
14-day money-back guarantee. If you cancel a new paid subscription within 14 days of your first charge, email support@desklight.ai and we'll refund the full amount. No questions, no hoops.
1. Free tier
The Free tier is free. No payment, no refund needed.
2. Monthly subscriptions
2.1 First-time charges (14-day guarantee)
If you subscribe to a paid plan for the first time and decide it's not for you, contact us within 14 days of the charge and we'll issue a full refund. The 14-day window resets if you upgrade or downgrade between paid tiers.
2.2 Recurring monthly renewals
After the first 14 days, monthly subscriptions are non-refundable. You can cancel anytime from Settings → Plan & Billing in the app — your access continues until the end of the current billing period and you won't be charged again.
3. Annual subscriptions
Annual plans (billed every 12 months) carry the same 14-day money-back guarantee on the initial purchase or annual renewal.
If you cancel an annual subscription after the 14-day window but before the renewal date, you keep access through the end of the paid period; we don't pro-rate annual refunds outside the guarantee window.
4. Add-on usage and overages
Pay-as-you-go usage charges (e.g., per-seat overages on the Team plan once seat overage billing is enabled) are non-refundable once incurred, except where required by law.
5. Pay-as-you-go credit balance
Credits purchased outside of a subscription (credit packs of $20, $50, $100, or $250) are added to a persistent balance, denominated in U.S. dollars, that does not expire as long as your account remains open. They draw down as you use AI generation features at the published per-action rate.
5.1 14-day buyer's remorse refund
If you buy a credit pack and decide within 14 days of the purchase that you don't want it, email support@desklight.ai for a full refund of any portion of that pack you have not yet used. Used credits are not refundable; they have already paid for inference that has run.
5.2 After 14 days
After 14 days, credit packs are non-refundable in the ordinary course. Your balance does not expire and remains available for as long as your account is open, so there is no urgency to use them.
5.3 Account closure and unused balance
If you close your account while you still have an unused pay-as-you-go balance:
- You can transfer the balance to another workspace within the same account before closing — no fee.
- If you'd prefer to cash out, you can request a refund of any balance over $20 USD, less a 10% processing fee that covers the original payment-processor charge we already paid Stripe and which is non-recoverable on refund.
- Balances under $20 USD are forfeited on closure (the processing fee would consume them).
- If you simply close your account without contacting us, any unused balance is forfeited.
6. Subscription credit allotment
Each paid subscription includes a monthly credit allotment that refills on each billing cycle and does not roll over. Unused subscription credits at the end of a billing period are forfeited and are not refunded. The persistent pay-as-you-go balance from §5 is unaffected.
7. Failed generations
If a generation fails because of a server error on our side, the credits used for that generation are restored to your balance automatically. No refund request is needed. If a generation completes successfully but the output isn't what you wanted, the credits have already paid for the inference run and are not refundable.
8. Rate adjustments
Per-action rates may change when underlying inference providers change their prices, as described in §3.5 of our Terms of Service. If you object to a rate increase that has been announced with at least 30 days' notice, you may request a refund of your unused pay-as-you-go balance under §5.3 above before the rate increase takes effect, without the 10% processing fee.
9. Prohibited use refunds
We do not refund subscriptions or credit balances on accounts terminated for breach of the Terms of Service, including violations of the acceptable use rules.
10. How to request a refund
Email support@desklight.ai with:
- The email address on your Desklight account;
- The approximate date of the charge;
- A short note on what didn't work (optional but helps us improve).
We aim to process eligible refunds within 5 business days. Stripe typically takes another 5-10 business days to return the funds to your card or bank, depending on your issuer.
11. Chargebacks
If you have a billing concern, please email us first. Chargebacks issued without contacting us cost us a chargeback fee on top of the disputed amount; if you initiate a chargeback for a charge we would have refunded, we will close your account.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The version that applies to your subscription is the one in effect at the time of your most recent purchase or renewal.
